About the flag:

The national flag of the country was created in 1959 by a student. The two green stripes symbolize the forest and the natural wealth of Nigeria and the white stripe in the middle symbolizes peace. The national coat of arms was created together with the flag and approved by Queen Elizabeth II in May 1971. It represents the Nigeria’s national unity and state power.
